Proverbs 14:29 says a patient man has great understanding."Getting things going in Reading has required much patience, but when we wait on the Lord and seek His will, our mission will be all the more fruitful. Proverbs 3:5 says In all your ways acknowledge, and He will make your paths straight. We sent out an email to many churches in Reading, Pennsylvania and received a response from one. We thank the Lord for that response, but it is taking some time to get it together, as they have to check some references and get approval from the board. The church has informed us of a pretty significant homeless problem in Reading. Please pray for their support of our vision, and that the eyes, ears and most of all the hearts of the homeless will be ready to receive the spirit of our Lord Jesus who died for all.
It was snowing when we left East Stroudsburg, and the weather has been unseasonably cold and wet. This makes things a little more diffcult for us. Even though we can operate quite adequately in any weather, our heat is somewhat insufficent for really cold weather. Carol reminded me that the homeless sleep in these conditions every night, and it wouldn't kill us to sleep with a little chill. God promises us He will supply us with all of our needs. He doesn't promise that serving Him will be easy. Even though our desire is to be where the weather is warm, and to stay one step ahead of the cold, we must be where God wants us at all times. If that means in the cold, so be it. After all when we consider the persecution many suffer just to carry a bible and praise God in other countries, it helps me (as the Apostle Paul said) to be content in all my circumstances.
Peace & Grace,
Doug & Family
