A Homeless Man in East Stroudsburg, PA

Seems an odd title to a blog, but after having spent just an hour with Johnny I am refreshed to know that when we are down and out we can sometimes see Christ more clearly. I asked Johnny this question as he told me he has five people living with him in his camp: "Don't some of your people question the existence of our Lord given their circumstances?" They may wonder how there can be a God who loves me yet allows me to struggle so much in this life? Johnny said he tells them (as they bundle up against the portable heater in the camp) that God promises to give us the things we need, not desire. Then he reminds them of the food, clothing and fuel which keeps them warm, which come from people who have been moved by God to provide for them. Some are from churches, some are individual believers, some are organizations like Four Disciples Mission. God has moved me and my family to help those in need, and it is for God's glory - God is providing this service to the downtrodden - not us. So as Four Disciples Mission, along with a couple of people from Moutain Stream Baptist Church, set out to do God's will by providing the local homeless with a hot meal Wednesday night, we will remind them that we come in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. And we can learn that when we strip away all the stuff (which I'm not condemning) that we chase after each day, and all the busyness trying to acheive and aquire all we desire, God will give us all we need. Four Disciples Mission is supported by God through you so we thank you, and give thanks to our great God for always keeping His promises. Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Peace & Grace

Doug, very cool blog man... our family had many interactions with Johnny while there in Sburg area. We went out to Johnny's camp on a few occasions and helped him rebuild his area when it burned down 2 years ago. Nice guy and he truly has a good perspective. Great to hear you are doing good and the family is good.
