I can say with confidence that the Apostle Paul wants us to know the most important thing in life is our relationship with God. In 1 Thessalonians 5:17 Paul tells us to "pray continually." I must admit this is sometimes very hard to do. Part of this relationship also requires us to read His word and know it (Ephesians 6:14-15 says Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.) This is also hard to do as much as we all know we should. Sometimes, however, God just gives us no other choice. I praise God for His guidance, and many of you that know Carol and I know that God's leading in our life has always been very clear to us. God opened doors and invited us to go through them, oftentimes not knowing what to expect on the other side. Paul, however, concludes the aforementioned chapter 5 in verse 24 the one who calls you is faithful and He will do it. Paul assures us as we pursue the Christian life that He is faithful, and we cannot do God's work ourselves - He will do it.
For the second time in my life God hasn't been so clear to us. We landed here in Pahokee sure we were right where God wanted us. However ,since our work at the pantry has concluded we are very unsure as to exactly how God wants us to serve. We have tried many things. I have left myself available to every local outreach, mainly in the preparation of Prison Fellowship Ministries. As of now we have been very discouraged and haven't been moved in any particular direction. My instinct, as a person who doesn't like to sit idle for too long, is to make a decision without being fully prompted or fully convinced that it's what God wants me to do. The last time I felt this way I was in my second year at Pinebrook, and it required a lot of prayer, study and humility to finally get God's clear direction. That's when going on the road brought us here. I guess I wrote all this to say I believe God really wants me to focus on seeking His wisdom. Many of you have heard me say God wants less of me doing for Him, and more of me being with Him. This is a good thing to always keep in balance. Many times we can spend so much time doing what God asks us to do that we forget to do the most important thing. We get out of the habit of just spending quality time praying and being in His word. So please be praying for direction for us. We need your prayer for God's leading, and for God to keep the moving of His Spirit that got us to where we are. We have a few faithful donors and need direction as to best use the resources God gives us. We don't have enough resources to continue a full-time ministry, and I have been working some odd jobs, thanks be to God. As for now we will be keeping Four Disciples Mission donations in that account until God leads us toward his plan for us. If you would like us to put it to immediate use let us know and we'll put it towards some projects in the community. We can't stress enough at this time the need for your prayers. We are confident that God is preparing something for us. Just pray for contentedness and patience as God works out His plan for our future. After all, Paul, also in that very same chapter tells us to give thanks in all circumstances. So as I pray and seek His face I give thanks to Him for all of you.
