Plenty to do in Wytheville
We are in Wytheville, Virginia. We altered our route because a homeless man asked if we could bring him here. Wytheville is located on a 'peninsula' of Virginia that sticks out between southwestern West Virginia and northeastern Tennessee. Word of Life Ministries Church asked if they could help us after we attended their Sunday service, and agreed to let us plug in and stay in their parking lot. What a great view, and plenty of land. Julien and Bailey have taken to hitting golf balls around when their schoolwork is finished. We went to the homeless shelter where they said that they had to close their kitchen, and actually have homeless living there that are hungry. This kind of discounts my theory that there are no starving in America. Well, maybe they aren't starving, but they are short of an everyday meal. So we were directed to a couple from the local Presbyterian church, who asked us to their weekly church potluck/bible study, where I had a chance to share about our ministry and talk about how we can help. It just so happens they need someone to encourage the other local churches to fill in the holes in the feeding schedule which was created by the shelter having to close its kitchen. The church where we are staying is our first candidate, please pray for a continued servant's heart. We have volunteered to fill in the hole for next Wednesday dinner and feed them from the food provided by Pinelands Community Church. We've also agreed to help for the Thanksgiving Day meal. Please pray for guidance on how long we should be here, and continued guidance on what churches we should approach. My grandma always told me that God is love. God showed His unconditional love for us by sending Christ to pay a price we can never fathom. Through this we all have an opportunity to spend our lives with the loving God that created us all. No matter what we've done God wants us to love Him. This Thanksgiving let's not forget to thank God for this opportunity He's given to all mankind, and to show our love for Him by loving others. Thanks be to God.
