We went to Charleston, West Virginia, and I tried to get connected with Roark-Sullivan Lifeway Center, and the coordinator, Nola Snodgrass, said this time of year was a huge time for volunteers, so our help would probably be better spent somewhere else. We found much the same in Morgantown (also in West Virginia). So we decided to move south to northeastern Tennessee, then down to the south-central United States, starting in Alabama, then to Mississippi and on to Louisiana. As we were traveling out of Charleston, we were approached by a homeless man named Al trying to make his way to Florida. God sends someone my way once again, just as I was getting the feeling I get when it seems as though we're not accomplishing anything. I talked extensively to him about my testimony, and he was quite frank with me. He says he is a slave to alcohol, and he can't seem to shake it. He also said he had anger issues. We fed him and gave him a ride to Wytheville, Virginia, where we are now. We are going to church tommorrow, and Monday I'll visit the homeless shelter here in town. Please pray for Al as we did. As I read Romans 14 yesteday I was reminded that some of us are weak and others strong; we should not judge or show contempt regardless of where we fall in these two categories. We will all give account to our Master and Creator; every knee will bow before Christ. Paul tells us love should trump everything when it comes to God's children. We are thankful God has given us this opportunity time and time again. All for His glory.
